2008 Community Partners, THANK YOU!!!

December 8th, 2008

Well, another year has almost come and gone. And the Boys & Girls Club of Las Cruces is still here, not just surviving, but THRIVING! We would not be here, however, if it weren’t for the great people who have become involved with our organization. From our new Board, new staff, community partners, donors, and people throughout the Las Cruces and Dona Ana Communities, we would not have grown to over 700 members, not have been able to open up our new Teen Center, and not been able to give the programs to these kids. So to all of you, thank you!

Please take a moment to check out some of our community partners, and if you get a chance, stop in and do business with them, or just thank them on behalf of the Club! If I have ommitted anyone, please email me and let me know. I will get it on here quickly, and apologize in advance if I do.

Email and website woes

July 11th, 2007

Some of you may know that our website and email have been down, for which I apologize. We are working to repair the problem and keep the site as new and exciting as possible. For the meantime you can email me at caz8282@yahoo.com and I will get my email there, and as soon as it gets up and going again, my clint@bgclublc.org will be back up and operational. Thank you all for your patience and understanding, as we try to fix the problems.

Talk to you all soon!

Clint Ziehl, CPO.

Summer is almost here!

April 24th, 2007

Please stop in and let Miss Felisha know if your child plans on attending for the Summer program. If you are a parent who needs to sign up your child for the summer, we have many programs and activities planned, and space is filling up quickly. There are still openings so, stop on in ASAP.

The parent’s orientation is mandatory for all new summer members, and is a good idea for all of our year-round parents as well. We will be discussing some of the changes in Club programming, schedules, rules, and all the fun stuff. A lot has changed, so please plan on attending. For new member parents, it is mandatory, at which time you will be given your child’s membership card. This card is their entrance into the Club each day, their ability to check out games and equipment, and participate in Club programming.

Hope to see you all there!

Club happenings

April 15th, 2007

We have been very busy here at the Boys & Girls Club of Las Cruces. There have been ice cream days (Thanks Calichis!), concerts (Thank you Co-Op market, and Mr. Rene!), and new programs all the time. Just this week check out our Ribbon cutting with the Las Cruces Chamber of Commerce on Thursday, April 19th at 3:00 and our House Party of Hope at 5:30. Both events will be held at the Club.

Also, please check out the Activities Calander to keep up-to-date on all of our activities, special hours, and everything else that is coming up. We have also added the newsletter to the website, and will have a membership application on here soon.

Thank you again for all of your support, and we look forward to continually working with each and every one of you all to keep the Club going.

Until next time,

Clint

Ulcer’s and Random Thoughts

March 8th, 2007

I just want to let everyone know that I am doing much better now since being in the hospital all of last week with an ulcer in my small intestine. Thank you to everyone who visited, called, sent their thoughts, and everything else. Also, I can’t believe the cards and letters that all of the kids made for me. Thank you family and friends for keeping me in your thoughts and prayers.

The Club sure is on the upswing from all the support we have received recently. Everyone please, if you get the chance, see him in the hallway, in the Club, or anywhere in town, please give our Board President (CVO) Dr. Tim Jones a special thank you for all that he has done. He amicably filled in for me last week as I was recovering, and has been instrimental in keeping the Club going over the past few months. Without his and the rest of the Board’s efforts, we sure still would not be here. A lot of the positive things that have been happening sure are due to the efforts of these great people!

Talk to everyone soon, and don’t forget that you can comment, ask questions, and respond to any of my blog entries on here!

“Mr. Clint” Ziehl

Las Cruces, where would we be without you?

February 15th, 2007

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! We have had a great response so far to our newspaper article and news reports which showed just how dire the financial situation is here at the Club. So far we have received an outpouring of help from the community, some in monetary contributions, and many in people expressing to help. From potential new Board Members, retirees, students at the local high schools, churches, buisnesses, parents, and even our own kids, the support to keep our doors open has been great.

I would like to say that the coast is clear, but we still have a long way to go to reach that goal. I plead to those of you who can make a difference, if you have thought about it, or would like to know any more information on just how we got into this situation, how we plan to get out, and where we would like the Club to go from here, please do not hesitate to contact me as soon as possible. I look forward to meeting with anyone who has interest in the Club, our kids, and the future of our community. I am availible just about any time to make presentations to individuals, groups, civic organizations, and just about anyone that will listen to me talk about the Boys & Girls Club for that matter.

Things are sure encouraging, but we still have a long way to go. I look forward to working with, collaborating with, and recognizing anyone who would like to become a part of the Positive Place for Kids!

 Talk to you all soon!

Clint

Thank you Governor!

February 15th, 2007

For those of you who don’t know yet, Governor Richardson made a special visit to the Boys & Girls Club on Monday February 12, 2007 to announce that he was giving the Club a grant worth $15,000.00! This grant is a great help in our time of need, and we will be able to keep those doors open to the Club for the next couple of months. Please thank Governor Richardson for helping out in his community and not forgetting us “small people”.

Hello world!

December 5th, 2006

Welcome to the CPO blog! This is a new interactive way that we have created here at the Club, thanks to Board President Tim Jones, to better communicate what is going on here at the Club. You can post comments, ask questions, and read articles about what we are doing here. Our goal is to make the website very interactive, and informative, which will generate better programs for the kiddos. The more that parents, staff, and community partners know about what exactly is going on here at the Boys & Girls Club, then the more involved we hope everyone becomes in the children’s lives.

Any usefull suggestions, comments, concerns, praise, or whatnot is gladly appreciated. I look forward to hearing from all of you, and making this the best Club I can!
